State Duma nods 416 bln rbl one-time MET increase for Gazprom
MOSCOW, Jun 27 (PRIME) -- The budget and tax committee of parliament’s lower chamber State Duma late on June 24 approved an amendment to the Tax Code that encompasses a one-time 416 billion ruble increase of the mineral extraction tax (MET) for gas giant Gazprom from September 1 through September 30.
Kommersant business daily reported earlier that the increase of gas prices in Europe caused the government to raise Gazprom’s MET. The previous time the Finance Ministry made a one-time MET increase for Gazprom was in 2015, when the authority wanted the company to pay 50% of its net profit in dividends while the company decided to pay less.
